History Of The Cookie Jar: When was the first cookie jar ever used in the world?
Cookie jars, also known as biscuit barrels or jars, have been used in England since the latter part of the 18th century. Often made of glass with metal lids. Popularity in America started around the Great Depression time period in 1929. Early America cookie jars were also made of glass and had metal screw top lids. 1930's was the beginning of the stoneware pottery cookie jars. Early stoneware cookie jars were often painted with floral or leaf decorations or with colorful decals.
